5 Must Visit Markets in Canberra

There’s definitely no shortage of markets in Canberra, with an abundance of arts and crafts, fresh produce and live entertainment available every weekend. Warm up this winter with a mulled wine or feast on the freshest local produce. Here are our top picks for the best markets in Canberra.

Handmade Markets

When? Quarterly market - refer to the website for latest dates.

Where? EPIC in Exhibition Park, Canberra

First launching in 2008, the Handmade Canberra markets boast attendance numbers of over 30,000 and host over 250 local and interstate stallholders. All stallholders handcraft their products in Australia, making the markets a great place to purchase unique, artisan goods whilst supporting local and interstate Australian small businesses.

Recognised nationally, the Handmade Markets are full of homewares, cosmetics, jewellery, clothing and more.

Our tip - Don’t miss out on the gourmet food hall full of food vans, creating the ultimate foodie atmosphere!

Old Bus Depot Markets

When? Every Sunday from 9:30am - 2:30pm

Where? Kingston

Possibly the most well-known markets in Canberra, the Old Bus Depot markets are a blend of handicrafts, food, clothing and vintage stalls. There are the food classics that everyone knows: freshly squeezed sugarcane juice with a variety of flavours from Just Juicin', fudge from The Fudge People and pretzels from Burek Bakery, plus other local delights such as La Truffiere, offering extra grade truffles and Australian Honey Cellars, offering Pure Australian Honey.

Of course, there is much more to the Old Bus Depot markets than food. Walk around the markets to find fresh flowers, homewares, candles, handmade arts and crafts, jewellery and more!

Our tip - Get in early and get some Burek from Burek Bakery… you won’t regret it!

Capital Region Farmers Market

When? Every Saturday from 7am - 11.30am

Where? Exhibition Park in Canberra

Get down to the Capital Region Farmers Market to experience a market like no other in Canberra. With over 130 listed stallholders from Canberra and the surrounds, their diverse range of produce is second to none. From dog treats to smoked meats, seafood to chocolate, they’ve got it all.

Our tip - try the oysters from Banjo's Oysters - it’s the best we’ve ever tasted!

Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets

When? Thursday - Sunday, 7am - 5.30pm

Where? Fyshwick

As Canberra's oldest food market, Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets has been one of Canberra's favourite markets since 1967. They offer a wide range of locally sourced fresh produce four days a week in the heart of Canberra. It truly is the ultimate Canberra market that you can't miss!

Our tip - taste the sushi taco from Umami, a delicious blend of Japanese and Mexican dishes.

Hartley Hall Markets

When? First Sunday of every month from 10am - 3pm, except January

Where? Hall Village Showground

Located approximately 10 kilometres from the city, the Hall markets have been running since 1987, with some of the original stallholders still going strong! The stalls range from baked goods to smoked meats, and metal art to clothing and accessories. Head down to catch live music, children's entertainment and a truly unique shopping experience! Note that there is a gold coin donation upon entry, with all proceeds going towards Hartley Lifecare, a local charity that provides accommodation aid and respite care to those in ACT who have physical and complex disabilities.

Our tip - allow yourself a good hour, at least, to walk around these magnificent markets!
